About Me

Nathan Ecker is a journalist, photographer, and avid sports lover. He spends the majority of his time outside of work and school living and dying with Arizona sports or walking through nature.

After playing baseball his entire life through high school, Nathan stays dedicated to the sport through his fandom for the Arizona Diamondbacks and reports on various sports from an athlete's perspective.

When not playing with his tuxedo cat at home, Nathan is covering high school and youth sports in Flagstaff for the Arizona Daily Sun. He also wrote about and photographed NAU athletics for The Lumberjack, where he spent two years as a sports editor and member of the visuals staff. Nathan was also involved with NAZ Sports for two years, where he produced content and assisted team members with covering events such as the Super Bowl, Arizona Tip-Off, and Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

Growing up in the small rural desert town of Ajo, Arizona, Nathan approaches every story as an opportunity to learn about a new aspect of the world. Limitless night skies and pastel-like Arizona sunsets gave him an appreciation for the natural beauty of the world that he captures in every story, whether it be with words or a camera.

As a child, he would use his mother's digital camera and amateur painting skills to capture landscapes and animals. Always looking at the bigger picture, Nathan tells stories with the idea that no one person is bigger than the world that we live in.
